When Lois and Clark's car crashes off a bridge, Hank Brandin jumps in the water to rescue them. In the process, he finds an article Clark was writing about Superman's unannounced visit to West Valley. As the bank is about to foreclose on Brandin's home, he can't resist the opportunity to pretend that Superman is a personal friend of his, in order to get an extension on his loan. Will Hank's white lie spiral out of control?
