Strips 1-8 (November 5, 1939 to December 24, 1939)
Superman prevents the death of Mike Hensley, whose neighbor had placed a contract out on him in order to annex Hensley's logging business. When further attempts are made on Hensley's life, Superman concludes that there is more to this than mere business rivalry. Can he get to the bottom of this mystery before Hensley is killed?
